VPN Service helped to identify putative LulzSec Member

The British VPN and web proxy service hide my ass (HMA) has indicated
participated in identifying the suspected member of the hacker group
LulzSec that this week was arrested by the FBI. The company had followed
the invitation of a British court had issued and the IP address of the
suspect, under which he had enrolled at HMA.

HMA had have taken note of a web published log of an IRC chat in which
Internet users exchanged early June through various VPN services, it was
also known as HMA. Among the participants were a person chat with online
nickname Topiary in late July by the British police arrested, and also a
person named "Recursion", after the name is supposed to hide a 23-year
old man, who now The FBI went into the net. The chat conversation alone
is not illegal and had no reason to act for the company, says the blog
HMA. Later, however, a court order had been received for the publication
of data.

HMA justifies the publication so that prohibit the terms and conditions
of the company in illegal activities. If someone using the VPN service,
criminal acts, HMA cooperating with prosecutors. LulzSec have allegedly
committed various illegal actions, such as a DDoS attack on the British
Serious Organised Crime Agency Authority, defacement of the Web sites of
newspapers The Sun and The Times, and an attack on the PlayStation
Network from Sony.

HMA recorded at the beginning and end of a VPN session, the IP address
of the user. This happens especially so in order to identify users who
abuse the VPN service, argues HMA. The company asserts that to be
committed only to the law in his native country and to follow orders
even the British courts. Inquiries from abroad would not be accepted
before they have not completed the usual official channels in the UK.
British law prohibits foreigners not to use VPN or Web proxy services in
order to circumvent censorship in their country.
