Former Firefox designers developed health Apps

Could a mobile app to save lives? Aza Raskin is so sure that last year he gave up his post as chief designer for the popular Firefox browser, and founded in the San Francisco start-up Massive Health. The company is working on several new applications for popular smartphone platforms, which will launch later this year, TR reported in its online edition.

The market for smartphone applications in the health sector is only a few years old. Market researchers at IDC, this year account for 14 percent of adult Americans will use such apps. While smartphone games like Angry Birds currently still storming the charts app, when the young companies such as Raskin to create mobile software that will revolutionize the health sector. Such apps promise something that can hardly afford doctors or hospitals: they are always with the user (and the network) in contact and can provide a lasting, personalized care.

"Health care takes place between visits to the doctor," says Raskin, who is at just 27 years ago as one of the most influential thinkers in the field of interface design in Silicon Valley. "We live in an age constantly available Internet access, new user interfaces and mobile devices in almost any pocket." Massive Health sees "change behavior" helps it all as a substrate for software.

What exactly will bring his company to the market, Raskin reveals, however, not yet. The Massive-health app will still appear in this year. The target group were those he holds currently underserved for so Raskin. Health care should thus become a constant in people's lives, not something that is only for doctor visits on the topic.
