Ericsson integrates wireless mobile networks in

The network supplier Ericsson has introduced its own procedures for the integration of wireless technology in mobile environments. So smart phones or tablet can fluently, ie without interrupting ongoing switch transmissions between a mobile network and it affiliated Wi-Fi hotspots. Unlike other methods, the method comes with no special software on subscriber equipment. Also, the user does not have to manually log into hotspots.

Ericsson has improved the procedure as part of the so-called HetNet concept in the program (HetNet, heterogeneous networks). It is SIM-based mobile devices via wireless to let the Home Location Register (HLR, subscriber database) to authenticate a mobile network. The incoming WLAN traffic is relayed to the service environment in the core network of the mobile operator. The appropriate subscriber profile is automatically detected, so that customers can access the same services and applications available to them in the mobile network.

On such techniques work for other network suppliers such as Cisco and Motorola, they operate under the umbrella term data offload. All have in common is that they are data that are intended for delivery to mobile participants, coordinated by a different method and also take note of the replacement process. For participants, the data offloading is mainly due to higher interest rate. Also, the technique can save additional costs for the use of other Internet access points such as hotspots. Network operators avoid using data offloading traffic congestion in hotspots such as train stations or fairs, where availability is ensured from the language service and improve supply in buildings. Operators of mobile networks and WLAN hotspots provide themselves with the offloading new business opportunities. For the next offloading WLAN are also on the short-range radio transmissions and WiMAX femtocells in question, although both are very widespread in Europe.
