S3 reaches a patent lawsuit against Apple

The U.S. company S3 Graphics has filed suit against Apple for alleged
patent infringement. In addition, the company has once again at the
International Trade Commission of USA (International Trade Commission,
ITC) complained. Prior to the ITC and the U.S. District Court in
Delaware it comes to patents 5,945,997 for a rendering technique and
5,581,279 for a VGA controller circuit, such as the patent blogger
Florian Mueller explained.

In July 2010, S3 was already in the ITC about Apple for alleged patent
violations in some Mac computers complaining. A year later there was an
"Administrative Law Judge," the ITC in a preliminary decision that Apple
has infringed the patents 6,683,978 and 6,658,146 . Since early
September, the ITC decision and asked the parties for comments.

The graphics chip maker S3 is currently a subsidiary of VIA
Technologies, which has this week, Apple also sued for alleged patent
infringement in Delaware. VIA S3 wants to sell the Taiwanese smartphone
manufacturer HTC, which is also in patent Clinch with Apple.
