Amazon is planning e-book lending

Amazon seems to think about a rental model for digital literature. The
online retailer is currently trying to attract publishers for a "Netflix
for e-books," people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street
Journal. Amazon with its Kindle platform market leader in the U.S.
e-book market, the company sold in the U.S. now claims to more digital
than print books.

According to the Wall Street Journal to Amazon Prime customers get free
access to an e-book archive, where to find mostly older titles.
Customers may want only a limited number of e-books can be downloaded
per month. Already includes the U.S. premium service for $ 79 annually
in addition to a faster shipping right to use selected movies and TV
series. In Germany, where Amazon Prime costs 29 € per year, there is not
this additional content.

The issues raised by Amazon publishers to respond to the attack,
however, more skeptical, even though the online retailer allegedly lures
with thick wads. The Wall Street Journal publisher learned of leaders
who fear a cannibalization of the company selling more lucrative
business. Adds that an "e-book flat rate" diminish the perceived value
of digital literature in the eyes of customers.
