Samsung wants to make its mobile operating system Bada next year for
other hardware manufacturers available. The Wall Street Journal reported
with reference to a person familiar with the matter. This also ruled out
the purchase of a software company - in recent weeks, rumors had arisen,
Samsung wants to take over the mobile operating system from HP WebOS or
at least license. A few weeks ago Samsung had released version 2.0 of Bada.
Samsung wants to attract with the opening of Bada even more developers,
the report says. Another reason might be the imminent takeover of
Motorola Mobility through the Google Android-producers: When
manufacturers build more Samrtphones with Samsung's open-source system,
then as a counterbalance to the threat of preference from Motorola would
be created by Google.
A Samsung spokesman for the German news agency would not confirm or deny
the report.
