Last attempt at mediation in the patent dispute between Oracle and Google

Last attempt at mediation in the patent dispute between Oracle and Google

William Alsup, of competent jurisdiction in the process Oracles against Google because of the potential violation of Java patents, has called on the parties in a letter to one last time to agree before the end of October 2011 court hearing scheduled. Therefore, both companies will send the "top executive officers" for 1 or 2 days to discuss jointly with the Court of an arbitration.

The judges for the federal judicial district of Northern California in San Francisco asked the two Silicon Valley companies in the letter, up 7th September to comment on its proposal and to nominate a representative to the meeting. Whether the need be, for example, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and Larry Page, Google's CEO, wants the court to decide in consequence.

Oracle was reached by taking over Suns in early 2010 in the role of the heir of the Java programming language and Google had sued in August last year, because the Internet company should have contravened the in Androids Dalvik Virtual Machine-to-find Java code against patent and copyright . Meanwhile, Oracle had called for 2.6 billion dollars in damages, Judge Alsup held it more useful to start with the calculation of damages at $ 100 million. This apparently corresponds to the maximum mentioned in talks with Sun license costs.
