Report: Google is investing heavily in their own YouTube series

On the video sharing website YouTube in 2012, some professional web
series will be released exclusively. It takes YouTube owner Google
reported more than 100 million U.S. dollars in hand, on Monday, the Wall
Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter.

Accordingly, Google is negotiating with various media companies,
including Warner Bros. and News Corp's production company ShineReveille,
among other things, for the successful TV format "The Office" is
responsible. Even celebrities such as skateboarder Tony Hawk to publish
in their own channels exclusive web clips.

With the professionally produced web series would improve its Google
Video portal on the proliferation of television with Internet access and
set-top boxes, the paper said. Furthermore, significantly higher
advertising revenues could be achieved than with the currently dominant
amateur videos with professional web series.

The new offerings will as usual be funded through online advertising, a
revenue share of the producers is under discussion. A YouTube spokesman
would not commented on the rumors told the Wall Street Journal. Already
in April this year there had been speculation on YouTube could soon be
their own productions in order.
