On 31.12.2011 wishes to close the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS, the Open Source Software (OSS) repository BerliOS. Because of the Institute is not able to find a successor or guarantee a financing deal, sees it is forced to take this step - it says in the announcement yesterday from Friday. Founded in 2000, the project supports the open source development and serves as an intermediary between users, developers and manufacturers. 4710 Projects on the repository are hosted and registered 50 000 users.

The developers recommend the FOKUS BerliOS their projects in another repository export. In addition, the institute published on its website a guide on how to export data from the project developer's portal and transfer to a different platform.
