New specification for spreadsheets in ODF 1.2

New specification for spreadsheets in ODF 1.2

An official announcement is still missing, but on a mailing list of
OASIS announced the development of standards for the responsible Chet
Ensign already as the adoption of Open Document Format 1.2 (ODF)
standard. Thus there is after four years of the first successor of the
2007 published ODF 1.1.

Biggest changes are loud ODF architect Rob Weir, the introduction of
open formula, support for the XML metadata formats RDF / RDFa and
digital signatures. Open formula defines a format for the first time
formulas in spreadsheets and fills a gap in the old ODF. This is to any
program in a standardized way to exchange formula definitions.

ODF is a standard by the ISO format for office applications, used inter
alia in the free OpenOffice products and LibreOffice. It uses XML to
store the actual data and their display attributes such as fonts and
colors.
