Oracle reduced claims in lawsuit against Google

Oracle reduced claims in lawsuit against Google

In the original lawsuit against Oracle by Google for infringement of
patents by the Java mobile operating system Android, it was still
decreased by more than 130 claims. This seemed to the judge for a term
of three weeks to process a lot, he proposed a reduction to three claims.

Now, Oracle has set about four weeks before the scheduled start of
trial: Fifteen claims are to be negotiated, come to eleven "mirrored".
The "mirroring" a claim that is expanding from a pure method ("method")
to the combination of a device ("apparatus") or a machine-readable
medium. The claims come from six briefs, which also affected the
original patent 6125447 is no longer the subject of the complaint.

Oracle requires a compensation of at least 2.6 billion U.S. dollars.
This could treble if Google's process is a deliberate disregard of the
patents is proved - to such an intent could be several messages
indicating that wants to stay out of the Internet company from the process.

It is still not clear whether it will ever come to trial. The two
parties have met in recent days several times to direct negotiations.
Because initially, the two CEOs Larry Ellison (Oracle) and Larry Page
(Google) were involved. The most recent of these discussions should take
place on October 1, results are not yet known.
