Currently taking place at the Open House Oracle Open World in San
Francisco, Larry Ellison, a new computer system called Exalytics Machine
presented which can process very large amounts of data in memory and to
analyze. This feature, the database provider the rampant "Big-Data"
hype. Huge volumes of data are obtained for example in the
telecommunications, data warehouses and then fill can be due to their
sheer volume is difficult to evaluate. Oracle's specialized computing
machine is in direct competition with SAP's Hana-technology, which also
focuses on the analysis of extremely large amounts of information in
real time.
The Exalytics Machine contains four processors, each with ten seeds (4 x
10-core Intel Xeon CPUs), and one terabyte, dynamic RAM (DRAM). Multiple
appliances can be connected together in clusters according to Oracle.
About compression techniques to the computer can keep ten terabytes of
data in memory. The associated software stack consists of one designed
for parallel processing version of the TimesTen in-memory database, a
set of Business Intelligence tools (Oracle Business Foundation) and the
Essbase OLAP Server (Online Analytical Processing) for the processing of
multidimensional information.
